A French Romantic Sail

                       Canal du midi, a french romantic sail


It's an old artificial canal. the bulding started in 1666 and lasted fifteen years. It was desgned by paul Riaquet. There are 63 sluices gates. It's two hundred and forty-one kilometers long and links the Mediterrean sea to the Atlantic. It entered in the world heritage of UNESCO, at the begining it was built for the transport of weath. 

Today the Canal was employed for the pleasure of tourists leisure .The canal was lined of by nature and beautiful lande capes.

Did you know ? 

The plane trees lined along the canal du midi fell ill that's why they were cut down and replaced by new ones. We can follw the canal by foot.
