A FILM ABOUT SUFFRAGETTES



Suffragettes is a movie, released in 2015. This movie  shows an original story, it was created from official documents and testimonies.
The story is set in England, at the time when women fought for her right to vote. 
At the time, in 1918, just after the first world war, the women began to fight because during the world  war she  worked and took decisions but she couldn't express their opinions about politics.


The main character is Maud Watts, she is a fiction character but she
symbolizes all women who fought for her right, also called 'the suffragettes' .

One of the others characters is Emmeline Pankhurst, she is a real characterof history. E. Pankhurst gave speeches for encouraged women to rebell, during the war, she imprisoned 13 times.

This is a real Emmeline Pankhurst and the actress Meryl Streep who plays her role.


 

















The movie is also inspired by others women like Emily Wilding Davison, Olive Hockin, Edith Garrud, Barbara and Gerald Gould... these women had an important role in the history of the right to vote in England.

Finally, women over 30 years old got the right to vote at the end of the war, in 1918. And in 1928, or ten year after, this was extended to all women over the age of 21.  While in France the women got this right just at the end of the second world war after also many battles, in 1944.

MALALA YOUSAFZAI




Malala was born in 1997, in Pakistan


When she was eleven years old, she delivered a speech for girls education
 

In 2012 on her way home from school she was shot in the head by a Taliban. She was sent to England to get medical cares.


In 2013, she was 16 years old. She survived and she attended school in England.

Her book was published.

She delivered a speech at the United Nations 

She recieved the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
She is the youngest person to recieve the Nobel Peace Prize.

In 2015, she created a school for Syrian refugee girls in Lebanon.
