is George Sand ?
George
Sand was born on the 1st 1804 of July in Paris, France and died on
the 8th 1876 of June. Her real name is Amandine Aurore Lucile Monpin.
She was
called George Sand because she could have been discriminated, in
those days if you were a women and wanted to publish books it would
have been impossible.
How
was she known ?
She was
known by her first few novels for example, Indiana, she was
also famous for her boldness because of her nickname which is a
boy's
name. She inspired other women to follow her steps.
Her
love life :
Her lover
was Alfred de Musset but he was ill so she cheated on him with his
doctor.
They broke
up but he still loved her so he tried to get her back, but she
refused so they corresponded by letters.
She stayed
with the doctor.
Her
life :
She was a
women, so there was a lot of critics from Charles Beaudelaire or
Barbey d'Aurevilly... She was friends with Victor Hugo by epistolary
correspondence but they have never seen each other before.
With her
men clothes, and her behaviour that was like a man's behaviour, she
caused scandal in France.
She took
the defence of women and fought against the prejudices, she avoided
marriage.
